It's a hand strap...
I recently ordered and received an Alpaka Zip Clutch, which I posted a rather lengthy review about. Unfortunately, I had to wait to write my review because the Zip Clutch shipped without a hand strap. Rather than do the back and forth or deal with a return, I just paid for a new strap.
The Alpaka Hand Strap itself is made of a soft webbing that resembles seat belt material. It's comfortable around the wrist and moves freely without chafing. It feels very secure, due to its solid construction. It connects to the Zip Clutch using a single Duraflex gatekeeper clip. And it's the gatekeeper clip, itself, that can pose a problem for some.
It's understandable from a design perspective why Alpaka chooses to use this kind of clip in this particular application. It's just the design of clip itself that is difficult, really difficult, for anybody with mobility issues of the hand to use - particularly those with arthritis in the fingers. Opening and closing that little metal piece requires a dexterity that may be limited for some. It can be difficult for those WITHOUT these issues, too!
Gatekeeper clip aside, it's a nice hand strap. What can one say?
It's a hand strap.
