Exceptionally functional design
I shopped for a while before finding this bag. Being left-handed, I ordered both shoulders knowing that I would return one. It's first test was a recent 3-week trip to Egypt in which it excelled on the day-to-day (especially in Cairo) when I did not need a larger daypack for our excursions.
While it is very true that when carrying a water bottle, you are very limited on capacity; I never used it for a tablet, but it would still get tight with a water bottle and a sunglass case in addition to your basic small essentials. The biggest bonus what that it unexpectedly would securely fit and carry a 1.5L bottle of water if you use the cordage correctly around the neck of the bottle. Additionally, the luggage handle pass-through makes it the perfect personal item in addition to a carryon-sized suitcase.

I like it. It would be nice if it was lighter but i fear youd sacrifice its ability to weather if you made it lighter.

I love this pack. The quality is top notch and the materials are solid. Easy to get to the pockets. I own different brand bags of this type from timbuk2,tumi, and others, but this my favorite one so far.
