I like the cap very much, but I have a small complaint in terms of aesthetics.Maybe it's just my problem, maybe many other people who have a big head like me.I adjusted the size to fit me, the cap fits well, but with my adjustment, it is impossible to tuck the remaining length of the strap, because the hole is too far away.This makes the strap stick out and it is not aesthetically pleasing and bothers me.Maybe you should put the strap tuck hole closer to the edge in a new version of the cap or update the current model.Because if you have a big head you have this problem.Otherwise the cap is fine, thank you
So I like the hat but there is a design defect. For my head size the sizing strap will not stay tucked into little slit on the side, it's too short. Which would be ok, except that the hook side of the velcro on the strap has nothing to attach to unless you loosen the strap a good bit more, resulting in a cap that does not fit.. About two inches of the sizing strap just hangs loosely now. I'm literally going to have to use a safety pin or something to hold the strap. Not the kind of attention to detail you are expecting in a $40 baseball cap.
I think I would have liked this hat. The material appeared to be very durable, attractive, and a nice level of water resistance ... not sure how that translates to breathability. I wear 56cm hats normally - the velcro strap only has about 1cm of overlap to fit a 56cm head which doesn't seem like enough for a tight fit in inclement weather. The depth of the crown of the hat was too deep for a small head - the hat was tight to the top of my ears causing my ears to fold outward ... definitely not comfortable.
As usual with Alpaka, great fabrics and build quality, the colors are beautiful, it seems to be built to last.
2 reproaches however, spoiling a bit the experience in my opinion:
1. The magnetic buckle is an amazing technology on the different bags/pouches/etc..., very handy and secured. But what the point here? Once the cap is adjusted to your head, you won't change this adjustment anymore. So there is absolutely no interest having a buckle here, particularly a magnetic one. They are only exploiting the "hype" with these buckles and put them everywhere, even if there is no use of it. The price would be softer without it.
2. About adjusting the cap to your head, this is a problem when the product is supposed to be "top-notch" about design and features. As soon as you need to extend the strap more than a third of its length, you won't be able to store it anymore in its "slot" in the cap (see photo). So the strap will just drop behind your head... such a shame.
So even if it is an Alpaka product, a bit disappointed about this cap which was not well designed from the start.
