World Oceans Day 2023: How We Put The Ocean First
As we celebrate United Nations World Oceans Day which happens annually on June 8th, let’s learn more about this year’s theme and how ALPAKA puts the ocean first.
With this year’s theme, “Planet Ocean: The Tides Are Changing”, the United Nations is joining forces with decision-makers, scientists, private sector executives, civil society representatives, indigenous communities, celebrities, youth activists, and more to put the ocean first.
At ALPAKA, how we put the ocean first stems naturally from our commitment to reducing waste and utilizing resources efficiently (we even created our own fabric from ocean-bound recycled plastic bottle waste AKA Axoflux®️). Not only do we prioritize sustainable practices but we actively engage in supporting environmental causes by donating 1% of our revenue to environmental causes and non-profits such as our partnership with the Surfrider Foundation.
This non-profit organization dedicates itself to the protection and enjoyment of the world's oceans, waves, and beaches for all people through a powerful activist network. By collaborating with the Surfrider Foundation, our contribution will help preserve our oceans through various initiatives, such as beach cleanups, educational programs, and advocacy for coastal protection.

In conjunction with the United Nations World Oceans Day 2023, we can do our part, no matter how big or small, to protect our oceans for the next generation today. By getting your bags and accessories at ALPAKA, you’re contributing to the foundations and causes that we support.
