MAKING AN IMPACT

Our commitment to social and environmental progress

As a certified 1% for the Planet member, ALPAKA commits 1% of annual sales to environmental solutions. Sustainability forms the core of our mission: creating exceptional, long-lasting gear while minimizing our environmental footprint. Your purchase directly supports SeaTrees’ mangrove restoration and Surfrider’s ocean conservation initiatives. We believe innovative design must work in harmony with protecting the natural world for generations to come.

INITIATIVES WE SUPPORT

Our partnership with Surfrider Foundation supports their mission to protect our oceans and beaches. Beyond financial contributions, our team sponsors and participates in local beach cleanups to combat plastic pollution firsthand. By backing Surfrider's advocacy for clean water and healthy coastlines, we're helping safeguard these vital ecosystems for future generations.

Through our SeaTrees partnership, we're restoring vital mangrove forests in Baja, Mexico. These coastal ecosystems absorb 5-10 times more CO₂ than rainforests while protecting coastlines and nurturing marine life. We're committed to monthly mangrove plantings, transforming your purchase into direct climate action that creates lasting environmental impact.

Our Material Impact

Recycled and Carbon Neutral Materials

The single biggest impact we can have at ALPAKA is in the material choices we make. Because, unlike other things like cars, the majority of our environmental impact comes built-in before our products land in your hands. That’s why we’re committed to sourcing and producing low-impact materials.

Our custom-developed Axoflux fabric is made from 100% recycled material – either PET plastic bottles, or industrial nylon offcuts. Our new laminate fabric, Axogrid, uses Axoflux as its base – making it recycled as well.
