Unleashing the Fire: The Story Behind Our Limited Edition Elements Tote - Dragon Edition
Happy Lunar New Year! It’s been an exciting start of the year for us here with one of the coolest sold-out launches we’ve done recently, the Elements Tote - Dragon Edition.
We're proud to have created a masterpiece that encapsulates the spirit of the Year of the Dragon. This is not like any other Elements Tote; it's a fusion of inspiration, craftsmanship, and cultural symbolism. Let's delve into the design inspirations and the intricate thought process that brought this limited edition to life.
It all started when the ALPAKA team, spanning the globe, converged in China last year. The team drew inspiration from the dragon, a symbol of power, prosperity, and good fortune to craft a tote that stands as a testament to cultural appreciation and modern functionality.
To bring this limited edition tote to life, we decided to merge two of our bestsellers - the Elements Tote and the Zip Pouch Hook & Loop. This fusion not only added a layer of innovation but also allowed us to reintroduce the beloved Zip Pouch Hook & Loop, a product that had been discontinued. Integrating the HUB clip into the tote added versatility as the pouch can be detached and secured onto other ALPAKA bags and accessories thanks to the HUB ecosystem.
Red, the color of joy, luck, and prosperity, was the natural choice for the Elements Tote - Dragon Edition. It not only represents the dragon's fire but also encapsulates the positive energy associated with the Lunar New Year. Needless to say, the dragon patch on the Zip Pouch Hook & Loop instinctively became part of our design process. Countless sketches were drawn, each stroke aiming to capture the essence of the dragon. This same dragon design adorned our first-ever Red Packets too.
Crafted with precision, the tote bag and Zip Pouch Hook & Loop boasts a robust construction of weatherproof 210D ripstop nylon, ensuring durability and resilience against the elements. The cool grey honeycomb ripstop lining (200D) adds a touch of sophistication, elevating the overall aesthetic of the Elements Tote - Dragon Edition.
Only 500 pieces were made. Of these, 300 were made available globally, while the remaining 100 were launched earlier in Malaysia and Singapore. These last 200 pieces were exclusively retailed at two Boarding Gate stores, Paragon (SG) and Suria KLCC (MY).
