#GIVINGTUESDAY
Everyone's heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but there's another day you need to know about...Giving Tuesday!
Giving Tuesday was created to unite us in a day of generosity and to make a difference in the world any way we choose at the start of the busy holiday season.
As part of 1% for the Planet members, every purchase you make helps us give back every day to environmental non-profits that are doing incredible things to improve the health of the planet and every earthling (including humans).
Reforestation is one of the best ways to create a healthier environment and provide essential habitats for wildlife.
Throughout the year you've helped us plant thousands of trees from California to Australia and this Giving Tuesday, we're focusing on biodiversity, and will be planting 10 trees for every purchase today (and 2 trees per order for the rest of the year) that will go directly towards reforestation initiatives focused on supporting wildlife and holistic ecosystem restoration. Donations will be split evenly between three projects in South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia.
This reforestation project in Brazil aims to restore 5,000 acres in addition to protecting 60,000 acres. It will create corridors for wildlife such as jaguars, tapirs, black lion tamarins, and over 200 bird species, while also sequestering carbon and having a positive social impact for communities.
The objective of this project in the Philippines is to improve mangrove forest diversity. This will also support marine & riparian zone habitats, reduce erosion, protect shorelines, and improve fish populations, and coral reefs. There's also plastic removal and conservation training.
This is a partnership project between One Tree Planted and the Jane Goodall Institute in the Albertine Rift, Uganda. Forest monitoring will be employed for conservation, watershed health will benefit, and habitats for endangered chimpanzees & other species will be restored.
