ULTRADYNE™: EXTREME DURABILITY. ALL-WEATHER PERFORMANCE.
At ALPAKA, we're passionate about developing and producing proprietary technologies like Maglockz™ in-house to set new standards.
Ultradyne™ is our latest. The difference between a bag that degrades in two years and one that still looks sharp in ten. Here's what makes it different.
THE MATERIALS
Ultradyne™'s outer face uses up to 60% UHMWPE fiber: the same class of fiber found in body armor and supertanker mooring ropes. It's one of the strongest fibers on the planet, without the weight penalty you'd expect. Unlike most technical fabrics, it doesn't need any DWR coating or chemical treatment to repel water. That water resistance is naturally built into the fiber itself. Recycled polyester makes up the rest, adding flexibility and keeping sustainability built into the base material.
Inside the construction sits a recycled nylon reinforcement grid that holds the fabric together under sustained stress. The recycled PET backing completes the construction, handling structural rigidity and reinforcing the overall structure.
Breaking it down:
UHMWPE (Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene)
Its tightly packed molecular structure gives it an inherently low surface energy, so water beads off rather than soaking in, without needing any chemical treatments. That water resistance lasts the lifetime of the fabric. No C6 PFAS chemicals. No C0 DWR coatings that need to be reapplied every year.
Recycled PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
Sourced from post-consumer plastics like used water bottles that are cleaned, processed, and repurposed into a lightweight, flexible backing layer. Strong, functional, and kept out of landfills.
PFAS-free
PFAS are synthetic chemicals historically used in water-resistant treatments and widely linked to environmental and health concerns. Ultradyne™ doesn’t contain any, as it’s naturally water-resistant.
THE NUMBERS
Outstanding tear strength: 65lb (warp) and 80lb (fill). That's roughly twice as strong as nylon fabrics of the same weight. It holds under snagging, catching, and sustained load.
High abrasion resistance: Rated to 3,600 cycles. That's about twice as abrasion-resistant as nylon fabric. Built for years of daily contact against rough surfaces.
Water resistance: 200+ PSI hydrostatic rating. A typical shower head produces around 1 PSI. Ultradyne™ handles more than 200 times that, remaining waterproof even in the heaviest rain.
THE BIGGER PICTURE
Recycled content runs through every layer: the PET backing, the nylon grid, and the polyester reinforcement. The result is bags that are lighter, more water-resistant, and more abrasion-resistant than typical nylon ones, while lasting years longer. Fewer bags replaced. Less waste. Durability is its own sustainability argument.
THE NEW STANDARD
Ultradyne™ is the result of pushing material development further than ever. See what it means across the bags built with it. The bar has been raised.
