If we want to have an added layer against contracting the Coronavirus, then we need to wear a mask. As someone who has never had to wear a mask before, I didn't think this was going to be a problem. Wrong. I had the paper hospital/doctor grade mask that my husband ordered back when we had the H1N1 pandemic, so I have been using them. After the first five minutes of wearing one, I could not breathe, and I would break out in a sweat every single time because it was hot, and I couldn't feel any air movement through it at all. I was miserable every time I had to go anywhere with the mask on.
When my husband showed me the Alpaka Face Masks he ordered, I was skeptical. Truly. Not because of the brand—we have ordered other products from Alpaka and they are always great. I was skeptical about wearing any mask. Period. But a person's gotta eat, so I headed to the grocery store and put the mask on.
The weight of it is negligible. I had to adjust the fit (which is a nice feature) and when I stepped out of my car, I could actually feel air through the mask. It is breathable! Halfway into my shopping I noticed I had not broken out in a sweat, my face was cool and comfortable, and I didn't have to keep pulling the bottom of the mask open to let the heat escape. I also love that the mask has anti-odor, antimicrobial properties and it's still 99% effective against protecting me from germs even after 50 washes. Bottom line: I am convinced this is the best face mask on the market. We will be purchasing more for the family. Thanks, Alpaka!
